Mini Bio (1) Steven is a graduate of South Dakota State University, where he pursued and honed his natural love of acting. His most recent works include "Souvenirs" starring Academy Award nominee James Cromwell and "The Deep End," for which he earned a Best Actor recognition at the 2011 Fischgaard Short Film Competition. Part 1: Lukes and The Three Faces of Power: An Overview Lukes’ key insight was to offer what he termed a radical view of power, arguing that power has three faces (see figure 1). In developing his framework, Lukes built on the work of Bachrach and Baratz who in a series of earlier pieces had offered both a critique of what they saw as the Steven Lukes' Power: A Radical View is a seminal work still widely used some 30 years after publication. The second edition includes the complete original text alongside two major new essays. One assesses the main debates about how to conceptualize and study power, including the influential contributions of Michel Foucault. The other reconsiders Steven Lukes' own views in light of these steven lukes, New York University, Sociology Department, Faculty Member.

The essays in this collection focus on the perennial but newly urgent questions of how the tension between relativism and the moral universalism current in contemporary politics can be resolved within the framework of liberalism. Steven Lukes is Professor of Sociology at New York University, USA. He has previously held posts at Balliol College, Oxford, the European University Institute in Florence, the University of Siena and the London School of Economics.
